Project : Village Car Share launches on Grand Manan Island!

PRESS RELEASE | ECW Inc.

ECW and the Village of Grand Manan partner to provide alternative transportation options to island residents starting January 23rd.

January 20th, 2023

ECW – a local environmental non-profit – is thrilled to announce the expansion of our new transportation service, Project : Village Car Share to Grand Manan Island. Project : Village Car Share is a membership-based electric car share service operating in various communities in Charlotte County.

In partnership with the municipal office and Coastal Transport Ltd.,  Project :Village Car Share launches this coming Monday, January 23rd with the car being parked and available for use at the Grand Manan ferry terminal.

We hope this service will allow non-residents to come to the island for work, participating in our local economy, and allow residents access to services that are not available on the island itself.  This project was made possible with the support of the Horizon Health Community Innovation program and the support of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Mayor Bonnie Morse had this to say about the program launch:

“The Village of Grand Manan is excited to be part of Project : Village Car Share. This will provide an opportunity for travellers to maximize their time on the island as well as provide a local transportation alternative for our residents.”
